Dr. Nur Afreen Afsar is a Board Certified OBGYN by American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and a Certified Laparoscopic Surgeon by the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery Program.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, a highly selective accelerated medical program in NYC, and obtained her medical degree from New York Medical College. She then completed her OBGYN Residency and OBGYN Hospitalist Fellowship from NYU Langone Long Island. In residency, she received numerous awards including the Most Outstanding Resident in Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Surgery. She also served on the Quality Improvement Committee reviewing and presenting cases to the board monthly.

She is practicing with a State Medical License in New York City where she is active in working with and teaching physician assistants, residents and medical students. She specializes in obstetric & gynecologic emergencies (postpartum hemorrhage, emergency cesarean deliveries, vacuum delivery, forceps delivery, labor management, fetal heart rate monitoring, vaginal birth after cesarean section, postpartum complications, ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, miscarriages, gynecological surgery and surgical complications), as well as Office OBGYN, Pap smears, STD testing, Birth Control Counseling and GYN surgeries (hysteroscopy, laparoscopic surgery, tubal ligation, open abdominal surgeries such as hysterectomy, myomectomy). Dr. Afsar is known to have excellent bedside manner and rapport with patients and colleagues alike. She is able to communicate and engage effectively with her audience. She explains medical nuances in a way that the general public will understand and resonate with.
