Marcello is the founder of Preventive Security Assessment Services, LLC in New York City; a firm specializing in consulting, physical security and security training. He founded Preventive Security Assessment Services in 2021 following a long and successful law enforcement and security operations career that spanned over 30 years.

Marcello was employed by the New York City Department of Corrections (NYCDOC) for over 20 years, retiring in good standing as a frontline Corrections Officer on Rikers Island in July 2011. During his tenure, he was responsible for managing risk in jail settings. His responsibilities included, preventing and managing hazards with conditions of confinement, search and seizure protocols, inmate classification / threat assessments, inmate safety, suicide prevention, exterior perimeters, video surveillance, access control, gathering and sharing intel, report writing, security assessments of physical jails and jail connected facilities. His work with the NYCDOC often involved proactively identifying, investigating, and mitigating threats to the life and safety of thousands of pre-trial detainees in custody. Marcello was responsible for safeguarding medical staff, vendors, visitors, contractors, clergy, special groups, attorneys, educators, visiting law enforcement, investigators and others while confined to a prison atmosphere.

Marcello is Board-Certified in Physical Security, having earned the Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification through ASIS International. The PSP demonstrates one’s knowledge and competency in three key domains of security. Physical Security Assessment/ Application, Design, and Integration of Physical Security Systems / Implementation of Physical Security Measures. Marcello has earned the National Institute of Crime Prevention (NICP) Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Professional Designation Certification (CPD). This certification suggests he is an expert in CPTED principles, skills, and the applications essential for creating a safer, healthier, and more sustainable human environment. Marcello is a Certified Corrections Executive (CCE) through the American Correctional Association (ACA). This certification signifies he can successfully develop and implement policies and procedures for Adult Correctional Institutions on the Federal, State and Local levels.

Marcello is certified as a Work Place Violence Prevention & Intervention and Active Assailant Instructor with the Center for Personal Protection & Safety (CPPS).
