As an expert witness and case reviewer, Dr. Lauren Wiebe offers specialized expertise in gastrointestinal medical oncology, including diagnosis and staging, selection and sequencing of systemic therapies (chemotherapy, targeted agents, and immunotherapies), perioperative and adjuvant treatment strategies, management of treatment‑related toxicities, integration of hospice and/or palliative care, and adherence to prevailing standards of care. She is experienced in multidisciplinary cancer management and in explaining complex medical and ethical issues clearly to non‑medical audiences, and is available to assist with case review, chart analysis, written opinions, deposition, and trial testimony in matters involving gastrointestinal medical oncology and related supportive care.

Dr. Wiebe earned her undergraduate degree in economics, cum laude, from Harvard College and her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. She completed her internal medicine residency and medical oncology fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center, followed by a Clinical Medical Ethics fellowship at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics and a Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She is board certified in Medical Oncology and Hospice & Palliative Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds active medical licensure in Illinois. Currently, she serves as the Director of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology at Endeavor Health NorthShore University in Evanston, Illinois.

Over her career, Dr. Wiebe has held academic appointments at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Rush University Medical Center, with roles in GI medical oncology, palliative medicine, population sciences, and global health. She has led and participated in multiple institutional and national committees devoted to cancer care quality, chemotherapy and pain management policies, pancreatic cancer research, rectal cancer multidisciplinary care (NAPRC core team member), and palliative care research. Her leadership positions include serving as Interim Director of GI Medical Oncology, site and organizational lead for the Palliative Care Research Cooperative Group, and project director for a Coleman Foundation grant to improve cancer and supportive care pathways.

Dr. Wiebe’s scholarly work includes peer‑reviewed publications, abstracts, and invited presentations addressing oncologic care, palliative care integration, pain management, and innovations in cancer care delivery. She has served as an invited peer reviewer for journals such as Journal of Palliative Medicine, Journal of Oncology Practice, and Supportive Care in Cancer, and has reviewed national awards in palliative care research. Her awards include an ASCO Foundation Merit Award, American Cancer Society pilot funding, institutional quality and service awards, and recognition from PanCAN as a Patient Champion Physician.
