Dr. Carter graduated in the top third of her class from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School. She completed her Emergency Medicine Residency at the Pitt County Memorial Hospital/Brody School of Medicine and was Chief Resident for one year. She is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Kelly has been an emergency medicine physician for 16 years. She also has experience as a telemedicine physician, and was Co-Founder and CEO of Brily Innovations, a company using technology to create products that improved patient care, reduce financial loss and improve efficiency in the emergency department.

In her current role Kelly is assisting as Documentation Engineer in physician efficiency and improved documentation to update and improve Epic and Cerner templates, phrases and lists. She completed the EPIC Power User Course and is active on the Peer Review, Candidate Selection, Compensation, and Personnel Committees. She also served on the Executive council for one year.
