I am physician with 20 years’ experience. I am board certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and hospice and palliative care. I also have expertise in cannabis medicine. I taught geriatric fellows at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center for over a decade. I was also the medical director of a veteran’s hospital SNF unit. At the VA, I was also chair of the “falls committee.” In addition, I worked as a hospice and palliative care physician for a decade. I was a medical director at a geriatric value-based care clinic. I have experience in a variety of different healthcare system including academic medicine, VA healthcare systems, hospices, and value-based care healthcare, I have worked in many different settings including nursing homes, assisted living centers, clinics, home care, in-patient hospices, and hospitals. Expertise includes elder abuse, medical ethics, nursing home/assisted living care, dementia care, mental competency, elder LGBT rights, end of life care, advanced directives, home care, and hospice.
