James R. Smith, MD, is a board-certified specialist in obstetrics and gynecology at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center, where he provides a full range of services, from routine exams to noninvasive and minimally invasive surgical procedures. Prior to joining MedStar Montgomery, Dr. Smith was an attending physician at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Indiana University Health Physicians in Carmel, Indiana.

Dr. Smith is the chair of the OB/GYN department peer review committee and is currently on the hospital Quality and Peer Review Committee at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center

Dr. Smith earned his medical degree at the University of Louisville, and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Indiana University. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
