Primary Areas of Expertise

Accident Reconstruction & Biomedical Engineering

I have been retained in cases including, but not limited to stairwell failure resulting in personal injury, scientific misconduct, slip & fall in malls, spinal whiplash injury resulting from car accidents, industrial accidents (including dismemberments), DUIs, and diabetic neuropathy.

My multifaceted approach stems from 25+ years solving challenging engineering and scientific challenges. In most cases, I write my own proprietary software, review and report on peer-reviewed scientific literature, perform remote or in-person site visits, and thoroughly review all evidence, including medical records. I have also been retained in a case involving the premature failure of a knee implant whereby I analyzed the biomechanical properties of the prosthesis as well as the bone and soft-tissue interactions with the prosthesis.

In another recent case, I custom-wrote a MATLAB code to perform image analysis on dozens of scientific images in an effort to determine image source. I have also been approached by several law firms for my expertise in surgical devices such as surgical staplers and surgical robotics.

As a structural engineer, I have performed hundreds of 2D and 3D finite element failure analyses on numerous materials including steel, wood, plastic, and soft tissues.

I am a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Utah and have served as an expert witness for cases in Florida, Pennsylvania, and in Federal Court. I am also willing to apply for comity in additional states where required.

I am a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the International Code Council, the American Concrete Institute, and the National Association of Forensic Engineers. I am also a former editor of the IEEE-EMBS, and a member of the ASME. I am also the author of two books in two fields: Molecular and Cellular Biomechanics, and more recently Zero Waste in the Last Best Place. As your licensed engineer and expert witness, I will work diligently and persistently to achieve the most comprehensive and technically accurate analysis and report
