Midwifery

I am a Certified Nurse-Midwife with 12 years of experience providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care across outpatient, home birth, birth center, and high-acuity hospital settings. I currently practice in the Obstetric Emergency Department at IU Health, where I provide rapid assessment, triage, and management of urgent and emergent obstetric conditions in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary academic environment.

My clinical work centers on evidence-based decision-making, collaborative care, and trauma-informed practice for diverse and complex patient populations. I bring a strong foundation in physiologic birth, risk assessment, and timely escalation of care, supporting safe outcomes while maintaining a patient-centered approach.

Previously, I served in midwifery leadership roles within academic hospital systems, contributing to program development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical guideline implementation. I have owned and directed community birth practices that offered patients safe and high-quality midwifery care in an out of hospital setting. Those experiences continue to inform my practice through strong systems thinking, effective interdisciplinary communication, and mentorship of colleagues and learners.

I am deeply committed to respectful, compassionate care, professional integrity, and continuous growth — both for myself and for the teams and systems in which I work.

As an expert witness, I provide independent, evidence-based review and analysis of clinical records, professional practice and conduct, and adherence to applicable standards of care. My opinions are grounded in current clinical guidelines, peer-reviewed literature, and practical experience, with a clear understanding of scope of practice, risk assessment, and escalation of care. My approach is objective, detail-oriented, and evidence-based, with a focus on clear communication and thoughtful analysis of complex clinical scenarios.
