Mark L Friedman MD FACEP FACP is  Chief Medical Officer Emeritus of First Stop Health. He is an emergency physician emeritus at St Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. He was formerly Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Frank Netter School of Medicine, Chief of Emergency Medicine at St Elizabeth’s Hospital of Boston, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine, Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois, and Adjunct Professor of Public Health at Benedictine University. Dr. Friedman is a nationally recognized expert in DRG claims analysis and medical cost containment. He has helped design programs to prevent medical errors as well as malpractice litigation. He has served as an advisor to government on medical billing fraud and abuse and developed two companies that perform audits for the Medicare RAC. Dr. Friedman is a frequent speaker and the author of numerous articles and books on medically related topics.
Dr. Friedman is a graduate of the college of the University of Chicago and the Pritzker School of Medicine. He was a Kron Scholar at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan Flagler School of Business. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Life Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and an Emeritus member of the Massachusetts Medical Society.

Dr Friedman was CEO of The Brighton Group, a medical billing company, as well as President of National Medical Claims Analysts and Premium Healthcare Services, both of which performed audits and consulting for the medical insurance industry. Dr Friedman served on the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Medical Fraud Advisory Committee and was a tribunal member on  Massachusetts Medical Malpractice  Tribunals.
