Josh is a Senior Consultant at Group Nine Risk Consulting and a seasoned professional with over 21 years of career experience in corporate security and law enforcement. Josh is board certified in Security Management, having earned the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification through ASIS International. Globally recognized as the standard of excellence for security management professionals, the CPP demonstrates one’s knowledge and competency in seven key domains of security: Security Principles and Practices, Business Principles and Practices, Investigations, Personnel Security, Physical Security, Information Security, and Crisis Management.

Josh is also a Certified Threat Manager (CTM) by The Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP). ATAP is a distinguished and dynamic organization that serves as a pivotal hub for professionals dedicated to the comprehensive field of threat assessment and risk management. Josh was employed by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for 12 years, during which he demonstrated exceptional dedication and expertise as a Georgia state certified law enforcement officer. His multifaceted skill set extended beyond traditional law enforcement. He served in several specialized units, each contributing uniquely to his experience. He began his career in the crime scene unit and earned the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Crime Scene Technician Certification. He was also a founding member of the department’s crisis negotiation team. After being promoted to detective, Josh earned the Georgia POST Arson Investigator Certification and worked in the crimes against persons unit where he also managed the Fayette County sex offender registry. Josh spent his last two years in law enforcement as a financial crimes detective.

Transitioning to a corporate role, Josh joined a Fortune 50 company as a physical security specialist where he’s leveraged his law enforcement background and dynamic skill set to the corporate environment for the past nine years. He conducts vulnerability assessments, identifying opportunities to improve the company’s physical infrastructure and operational procedures. At the forefront of behavioral threat assessment, Josh has a pivotal role in identifying and analyzing concerning behaviors, applying his training to proactively mitigate potential risks. As a workplace violence prevention educator, he gives employees the knowledge and tools to recognize, report, and address potential threats in the workplace.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and a master’s degree from The University of the Cumberlands. He has testified in Georgia state and Federal courts.
