Rich worked in both the public and private aquatic sector as an aquatic director and manager and has operated several public and commercial facilities with both programming, training and maintenance responsibilities. Rich coached age group swimming and was an assistant swim coach at Grossmont Community College. Rich also worked as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Instructor trainer. Rich was the general manager of a California licensed mechanical contracting and service firm
for over 35 years working several hundred facilities. Since then he has consulted on many dozens of public, municipal, commercial aquatic facilities on community aquatic need assessments, staff training, aquatic program evaluation and development. Rich has worked on plans and specifications for both public and residential pool projects.

Richard (Rich) Young has been involved in the public and institutional aquatic community for most of his adult life. He studied public recreation in college and has worked as a pool manager and director of aquatics for several public agencies, owned and operated a California mechanical contracting and service company for over 35 years and has consulted on over 100 public and private swimming pools for construction, evaluation and staff training.

Rich has taught and coached swimming and water polo, taught water safety and pool operator classes and co-authored industry books and was the managing editor for several industry operator manuals. He holds several industry certifications and continues to teach operator certification classes. Rich has worked on many dozen swimming pool and water park related legal cases as a consultant and legal expert over the past 20 years.
