Gary E. Kilpatrick, PE, DFE at The Kilpatrick Group is a board certified Forensic Engineer through the National Academy of Forensic Engineers (NAFE) and is a Diplomat Forensics Engineer (DFE). Gary provides forensic engineering services to law firms and insurance companies in the following areas:
I Earned a BS Degree in Mechanical Design Engineering from North Carolina State University with an emphasis in Machine Design Engineering and Automotive Design Engineering. I have over 20 years of industrial work experience five years of which I spent with The Clark Equipment Company who invented the Forklift and Frontend Loader where Clark Equipment was the main competitor to Caterpillar. I setup and operated muti-axis CNC machining centers to machine gears, axle housings and all of the associated components for these drive train units namely drive steer axles and differential carriers for forklifts and cranes. I also assembled these components. I was a certified forklift operator and crane operator. I always keep current my forklift operator’s license to operate all types of forklifts, and I am certified to train and certify forklift operators. I am also certified to operate and certify others to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms also known as aerial personnel lifts. I have industrial work experience with other automotive component suppliers such as GKN Automotive and Koyo Automotive Bearings. I am a forklift and crane expert and have over 1000+ hours of hands-on work experience operating forklifts.
I am a licensed Professional Engineer in 15 states to date namely Washington DC, MD, NY, WV, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, TN, LA, MS, WI, IL, NJ.
I am a certified OSHA Expert in 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry), 1926 (Construction) and 1928 (Agricultural Operations).
I have a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Tanker, Hazmat, Triples, School Bus, Passenger Bus and Motorcycle Endorsements. I am an experienced school bus driver, and I am very knowledgeable with school bus operations and school bus safety.
I am a certified motor vehicle crash reconstruction engineer through Northwestern University and the National Association of Professional Crash Reconstruction Specialist (NAPARS) for cars, pickup trucks and commercial tractor trailer rigs. This knowledge also lends itself well in forklift and crane accidents.
I am an avid motorcycle rider and am a motorcycle expert. I have well over 40 years of continuous experience operating and riding motorcycles. I hold motorcycle rider’s safety certifications through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF).
I have owned and operated a Honda TRX 420 Rancher All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and have ATV and ROV rider’s safety certifications through the ATV Safety Institute and the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association. I am an ATV/ROV/UTV Expert.
I am very knowledgeable of amusement park rides and have been retained several times as an expert in amusement park rides cases dealing with the park ride machinery. I am very knowledgeable of the ASTM F24 amusement park ride F24 standards.
