Dr. Abubacker graduated in 1999 with a medical degree and has a 10-year experience practicing Internal Medicine. Dr. Abubacker pursued further specialization by completing a Nephrology Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and he has been serving as a Nephrologist with privileges at a tertiary hospital with a kidney transplant unit for over a decade. Dr. Abubacker is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. His expertise in Nephrology encompasses a broad range of patient care, including glomerulonephritis, vasculitis, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, electrolyte disorders, management of kidney transplant, acute and chronic kidney failure, and the management of various kidney disease complications. As the Medical Director of a dialysis facility, Dr. Abubacker is dedicated to ensuring patient safety and positive outcomes. Additionally, his certification as a Clinical Hypertension Specialist allows him to effectively manage complex blood pressure cases.

Services:

• Provide a multi-disciplinary approach to managing chronic kidney disease (CKD) through S.P.R.I.N.T. This is our patient-focused program which emphasizes education and medical care designed to delay progression and ensure improved outcomes for patients with CKD.
• Support one of the largest home dialysis populations on the east coast at Delaware’s only free-standing home dialysis unit, as well as through other clinics throughout the state.
• Provide diagnostic evaluation, maintenance and repair of dialysis accesses at our state-of-the-art vascular access centers in Newark and Milford.
• Serve as the Medical Director of Hemodialysis.
