Atul Madan, M.D. is a board-certified cardiologist and interventional cardiologist practicing in central Florida area. He has treated over 100,000 cardiac patients and performed over 6,000 invasive cardiac procedures during his 18 years of cardiology practice. He did his interventional cardiology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital-Harvard Medical School in Boston and cardiovascular disease fellowship from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He is presently serving as the Chairman of the Department of Cardiology at HCA- Florida Osceola Hospital. In addition, he has held various leadership positions in hospital departments and local physician organizations. For the last nine years, he has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. In addition, he is a research mentor in the Focused Inquiry and Research Experience (FIRE) program designed to involve medical students in research earlier in their careers. His professional accomplishments include, pioneering the trans radial approach to ST elevation myocardial infarction coronary intervention in greater Orlando area. This story was featured in the FOX 35 WOFL Orlando news interview telecasted in April 2011. He is well published in peer reviewed journals covering topics in preventive cardiology, pulmonary embolism, basic sciences and innovative technologies assessing the viability of drone technology in combatting Out-of-Hospital sudden cardiac arrests. As a clinical instructor and chief resident, he taught medical residents and clinical fellows during his years in SUNY Downstate and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
